The IT Quality Assurance Manager position is a hybrid role, combining strategic oversight of software testing practices with active participation in critical projects as a QA Lead. The manager will establish and enforce best practices, mentor and manage QA resources, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions through collaboration with cross-functional teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Managerial Responsibilities

-Develop and enforce comprehensive software and system testing practices across the IT organization.  

-Mentor, train, and manage both direct and indirect QA resources, including those that are acting as QA Leads on projects, promoting continuous improvement in testing methodologies.

-Provide regular metrics and reporting on testing adherence, defect trends, and software quality to senior leadership. 

-Implement effective release management practices, including environment control, software versioning, and system integrations.

-Act as a liaison with project managers, product owners, and senior IT leadership to align QA practices with organizational goals.

 

Project Level Responsibilities

-Serve as QA Lead on high-priority projects, ensuring effective planning, execution, and defect management.  

-Review and contribute to technical and business requirements during project planning, ensuring alignment with QA objectives.  

-Coordinate the preparation of test environments, including managing software versions, test data, and environment readiness.  

-Develop and oversee test plans, track progress, and provide dashboards and reports to project stakeholders.  

-Act as a mentor to testing teams, ensuring adherence to QA methodologies and guiding defect resolution processes.   

CRITICAL CAPABILITIES

•Leadership: Ability to inspire and mentor diverse teams, ensuring alignment with QA objectives and fostering a collaborative environment.  

•Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey QA processes and progress to technical and non-technical audiences.  Fluency in English.

•Detail Orientation: Strong focus on detail to ensure comprehensive test coverage and defect resolution.  

•Problem-Solving: Skilled at addressing challenges during testing and implementing continuous improvement practices.  

•Facilitation: Adept at organizing and leading cross-functional meetings and discussions.  

•Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with the software development life cycle, Agile methodologies, and QA best practices.  

•Continuous Improvement: A commitment to refining QA processes and driving innovation.  

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

•Bachelor's Degree/College Diploma in a technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology)

EXPERIENCE

•8+ years of relevant work experience in QA, software development or system analysis.

•3+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to manage resources across multiple projects and disciplines.

•Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

•Knowledge of QA tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, Selenium, or equivalent testing platforms.  

•QA certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE, or CSQA) are an asset.
