Salary: $40-$50 per hour

Role Description:

•Work within a team of Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products.  This includes all steps within a formal product development process

•Apply scientific/engineering principals in the design of machines

•Execution of conceptual and detail design - 3D modeling of parts and assemblies

•Optimize design based on manufacturing processes (DFM), assembly and test

•Sizing and selection of components (motors, sensors, bearings, gearbox, pneumatic and hydraulic components, etc) as well as material selection and application of design standards

•Perform calculations and analysis (structural FEA, thermal, dynamics, tolerance stack-up, etc..)

•Detailed drawings and application of GD&T

•Formal report writing and presentations to team members and management

•Work with team members in the validation of new designs (design and build of test stands, writing of test plans, analysis of test results, etc..)

•Contribute in design review meetings and brainstorming sessions

•Design risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of FMEA 

•Contribute in a fast paced design environment

•Work closely with multidisciplinary experts – Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing, Validation/Test


Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in engineering


Skills and Abilities:

•Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong presentation skills

•Excellent understanding of engineering principles

•Attention to detail

•Strong problem solving skills 

•Strong sense of ownership

•Ability to multitask (scheduling and prioritizing tasks)

•Creative ability to generate concept designs and select optimal concepts (eg./ selection matrix, TRIZ, etc..) 

•Demonstrated learning abilities and strong research capabilities

•Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio/Project – nice to have)

•Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously, and as part of a highly cohesive team

•Commitment to working with integrity and honesty

•Strong interpersonal skills

•Knowledge of Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software is an asset

•A strong desire to learn about mechanical design and possess a strong mechanical aptitude

•Well-rounded – hands-on mechanical ability and passion for interests and hobbies outside of work
