Reporting to the Director, Financial Systems, within the Global Controllership department, and part of the Financials Systems team, the role will contribute to the administration of the daily operations, maintenance and stability of accounting, consolidation, and AP automation software systems (finance systems). Working with IT and external service providers, this role will ensure systems are functioning as designed and provides support to the systems users. Additionally, this role reviews, tests and implements new and revised software and expanded functionality within existing software.
Major Area of Responsibilities
Maintain and secure accounting systems; test, review and implement new and revised software; collect, organize, and analyze all system functions including data integrations for integrity.
Act as technical SME for all financial systems and assist and support users of all levels with accounting and finance system software issues as the need arises.
Act as a liaison between the Finance and IT departments. Meet with IT to explain, discuss and resolve system functionality and data processing issues. Meet with various department representatives to supply data processing needs. Meet with external auditors to provide information about data processing flow and security.
You will use your knowledge to participate in all aspects of system management and enhancement / addition projects over their life cycle, help drive changes to increase automation within our IT environment, ensure all day-to-day financial transactions and financial systems are operating as designed and that all financial system matters are addressed in a timely basis.
Specific Responsibilities of the job
Daily support responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Administration function of all Finance Systems.
- Act as a Super User and provide end-user support and training on all Finance systems.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including policies, procedures, SOPs and training manuals.
- Support month end activities, including accounts reconciliation, closing, translation, and consolidation, and reporting.
- Responsible for Metadata maintenance, including Chart of Accounts, and various accounting hierarchies.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining various financial reports.
- Investigate and resolve systems, integrations, and data issues raised by the end users.
- First level of support to troubleshoot systems errors and coordinate with IT the resolutions for complex issues as necessary.
- Document issues and resolutions and implement proactive actions to avoid future occurrences.
- Ensure that all day-to-day system matters are resolved in a timely basis to ensure that the financial reporting function can run smoothly.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (SOX), standards, and best practices in Finance areas.
Systems Enhancements and Projects Responsibilities:
- Analyze Finance related business processes and identify opportunities for improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support or lead various finance initiatives and projects to enhance systems functionality and integrations with various upstream and downstream systems.
- Support or lead net new systems implementation or system upgrades/migrations.
- Document business requirements for current and future state business processes including creation of process flows and reporting requirements.
- Work with IT and software vendors to design and configure Finance systems / modules and integrations to meet business requirements.
- Develop test cases together with the subject matter experts and lead the testing of systems and integrations including, SIT, UAT and Smoke tests.
- Document systems configuration and the support operating model

Education & Experience
- University degree in Finance, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years’ experience in a mid to large enterprise Finance department in a similar role.
- Knowledge of IFRS or GAAP.
- CPA designation an asset.
- Experience with ERP systems implementations and administration (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP etc.).
- Experience with core ERP Financial Modules such as GL, AR, AP, Procurement, etc.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365, OneStream, and Concur Invoice will be considered as a strong asset.
- Manufacturing industry knowledge an asset.
