    • Husky debuts world’s fastest injection molding closure system at Chinaplas 2012

      SHANGHAI, China - Husky Injection Molding Systems today announced the introduction of its revolutionary new HyCAP™ High Performance Package (HPP) system for high output beverage closure manufacturing at Chinaplas 2012 (April 18 – 21, Shanghai, China). HyCAP HPP is the world's fastest system for the production of injection molded beverage closures and represents a significant advancement in beverage closure manufacturing. The system incorporates a new mold concept that eliminates wasted processes and movements within the mold, resulting in the highest levels of productivity for beverage closures.

      Chinaplas will serve as the global debut of Husky’s HyCAP HPP system, which offers up to 20% faster cycle times over the next leading injection molding competitor and up to 20% less energy consumption over its previous generation product. By maximizing efficiencies through the further integration of machine and mold technologies, Husky is able to provide customers with industry-leading productivity without sacrificing part quality.

      The HyCAP HPP 300 system running at Chinaplas in booth #E2E01 will be producing a 1.2 gram 29/25 lightweight water closure at a 1.85 second cycle using a 72-cavity KTW beverage closure mold. In achieving this, there were no compromises made in process times or part quality. Husky’s next generation HyCAP system was running a 26/22 application at NPE earlier in the month at a 2.2 second cycle.

      HyCAP HPP also incorporates a number of features that focus on improving ease-of-use and imbedding more intelligence into the system itself. Its SmartStart and SmartStop features provide faster and easier startup and shutdown, and with the latest generation of Polaris™ Control, offer the highest level of precision and repeatability thereby enabling a greater degree of fine tuning, particularly benefiting faster cycling lightweight applications. The new HyCAP HPP system also features a single interface for central control of the entire system, including hot runner temperature control and auxiliary equipment.

      With the addition of closure moldmaker KTW in 2011, Husky became the closure industry’s only provider of complete injection molding systems including machine, mold, hot runner, temperature controller and process and productivity software. By supplying the entire system Husky is able to provide complete melt stream control, resulting in increased productivity, less waste and improved part quality.
