    • Husky delivers highest productivity closure systems

      DÜSSELDORF, Germany – When Elocap, a manufacturer of caps and closures, wanted to maximize both quality and throughput they turned to Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd.

      Husky provided Elocap with several Hylectric injection molding systems and 128 cavity hot runners optimized for their closures. Running at a 3.6 second cycle time, each system produces over 2100 closures or spouts per minute or three million parts per day.

      “We were excited by the challenge of providing Elocap with high cavitation systems without sacrificing ease of use or part quality,” said Mark Fitzpatrick, Husky’s Business Manager, Closures. “We were pleased to deliver closure systems that exceeded their expectations.”

      Husky performed finite element analysis (FEA) and flow simulation to design the hot runner systems.  In addition, plate bowing and temperature measurements were made on the assembled systems to ensure optimal performance even on the first shot. The analysis and tests guaranteed that the thermal profile and deflection properties were within customer requirements. The performance of the Ultra hot runner and Hylectric injection molding machine complement one another to deliver faster cycles and better cavity-to-cavity consistency than would be possible with any other combination of equipment.
