Enhancements to Husky hot runners result in faster cycles and better parts

DÜSSELDORF, Germany – Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. today introduced enhancements to its hot runner product line. New technologies, including the UltraFlow valve gate and Long Fiber hot runner system are on display at K2007 in the Husky booth (Hall 13, Booth A59). Also on display - innovative hot runner products such as back-to-back valve gating, split sprue bar technology and the Ultra 350 valve gate that meet the specific needs of closures, medical, automotive and packaging markets.
UltraFlow fast colour change now available for valve gates
UltraFlow mixing technology provides the industry’s fastest color change, reducing color change time by as much as 90%, an important feature for closure customers. By mixing the melt prior to entering the cavity, UltraFlow delivers superior melt homogenization, eliminating flowlines and improving overall part quality.
Introducing Long Fiber hot runner system for automotive parts
This hot runner is engineered to deliver long fibers from the machine nozzle into the part, maximizing material properties. The Long Fiber hot runner is targeted at automotive customers who require lighter, stronger compounded parts.
Improvements to hot runner section of website
Husky has introduced some significant improvements to its hot runner website, www.hotrunners.com. The re-launched website features improved navigation and access to information.
Husky has also added new tools to the website that are designed to make it easier for customers to select the ideal hot runner solution for their application. Some of these new features include:

- gate detail generator
- plate calculator
- 3D download
- one common login for secure tools
Other enhancements featured in the hot runner section of the Husky booth at K2007 include:
Back-to-back valve gate hot runners and split sprue bar solutions
Back-to-back valve gates are ideal for high-production, high throughput applications such as thinwall packaging that require valve gate quality in a stack application. The back-to-back valve gate offers a reduced shut height of 215 mm, making it easier to fit in a smaller machine. Back-to-back valve gate components are easily maintained in the molding machine, providing increased productivity by reducing maintenance times.
Husky’s split sprue bar hot runner solution splits and opens with the mold, allowing a clear, clean molding area for part handling access. This stack mold solution offers molders increased cavitation as the sprue bar does not interfere with free drop falling parts. A newly developed, patented, stem-to-stem shutoff eliminates stringing and drool. Unlike competitive systems, Husky’s split sprue bar features independently actuated stem closing – essential for fast cycling applications.
Ultra 350 valve gate – the right solution for closures and medical parts
Husky recently launched the smallest member of its valve gate nozzle family, the Ultra 350 valve gate. The valve gate features a seal diameter of 8 mm and a bore diameter of 16 mm, making it one of the smallest valve gate nozzles in the market.
The Ultra 350 valve gate matches the throughput of up to 20g/second previously achieved only by larger valve gates. The Ultra 350 valve gate nozzle is currently available for polyolefin resins.
