Husky to showcase high-speed IML system at Plast'06
For release 2005-11-21
DUDELANGE, Luxembourg — Husky Injection Molding Systems will demonstrate a high-speed workcell producing containers decorated using in-mold labeling (IML) at the Plast06 in Milan, February 14-18.
In addition, the Husky booth (B/C 30/25, Hall 11) will showcase the company's strengths in hot runner technology, as well as injection molding solutions for the packaging, beverage and automotive markets.
The integrated IML workcell that Husky will demonstrate was developed together with SysTec Komplettsysteme GmbH (Bad Urach, Germany). At the heart of the system is a compact Husky Hylectric H120 machine with a 2-cavity mold and an integrated SysTec IML system with force-guided label insert technology. This uses Husky SwingChute in-mold automation to retrieve labels from a magazine, then orient and place the labels on the insert core. This means that the labels are quickly and precisely positioned on all four sides and the bottom of the container.
"This workcell provides a comprehensive demonstration of compact, high-efficiency production, as well as the technical expertise and support available from Husky and SysTec," said Volker Neuber, Husky's Vice-President, Service and Sales, Western Europe. "The unit and tooling have been optimized using mold flow analysis, resulting in low injection weight at an optimal cycle time - and therefore the lowest possible costs."
Other benefits the system offers are:
- Automated and hygienic production of a ready-to-use labelled container
- Reduced floor space (IML automation completely integrated)
- High production rate
- Very flexible due to quick format change
- Easy to use
- Change of labels without production stop
- System can be extended with an automatic box packing robot
