Husky to showcase performance and flexibility of its beverage solutions at PETpoint 2005
For release 2005-07-20
Husky Injection Molding Systems will showcase its newest line of HyPET systems, demonstrate specialized preform production, and display various beverage-related products made on Husky equipment at Drinktec/PETpoint 2005, Sept. 12-17 in Munich. Husky can be found in Hall A6, booth numbers 335, 341, 536 and 542.
In addition to the demonstration of a HyPET 90 system, Husky will exhibit PET preforms and bottles for a wide range of beverage applications, as well as closures, containers and crates. Husky will also be highlighting the numerous benefits of HyPET systems in a presentation at the PETpoint Congress.
"HyPET is a highly flexible platform that uses single-face molds and delivers several new innovations in cooling and handling technologies," said Mike Urquhart, Husky's Vice President of PET Systems. "This platform includes a number of new technologies and approaches, resulting in higher productivity. With HyPET, we've been able to maintain our lead in the PET market by continuing to offer greater benefits to our customers."
Highlights of Husky's exhibit include:
- PLA preforms — Throughout the duration of the exhibition, Husky's HyPET 90 system, equipped with an 8-cavity mold, will be producing preforms from polylactide (PLA), a biodegradable, compostable material made from corn. The production of PLA preforms highlights the flexibility of HyPET systems and Husky's commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Beverage closures — With 30 years experience in closures, Husky will exhibit a broad range of closures for beverage applications produced using Husky hot runner systems and Hylectric machines. Included are closures for dairy, carbonated soft drinks (CSD), water, juice, beer and alcohol.
- Beverage accessories — On display will be plastic cups, goblets and champagne flutes produced with Husky machines. These high-production items are challenging with regards to aesthetics and clarity as smooth, excellent finishes are required. In addition, these products are dimensionally critical for automated production and packaging.
- Beverage crates — Husky will display beer crates molded with a twin cavity setup, including a molded elastomer (TPE) grip. This state-of-the-art application that Husky helped develop required the large tiebar spacing and precise clamp movement of Husky's Quadloc machine. It also employs in-mold labeling and a robotic handling system.
